ReDI School Copenhagen Online Company Visit at KMD

ReDI School is a non-profit association that helps women with a refugee background to improve their IT skills in order to be able to navigate in a digitalized society like Denmark and to help them get a job in IT.

In collaboration with their partners, company visits are a part of the school’s curriculum. Ida Marie Bjerre Jepsen, Head of ReDI School Copenhagen, underlines the importance of a close link between academia and the labor market:

“We are very pleased to be able to invite our students to KMD. Hearing the personal stories about pathways into tech and what an IT professional actually is working on in different areas is very interesting. We can see how it inspires and motivates our students to believe in themselves and their opportunities in working with technology after ReDI School.”

In this regard, KMD hosted the company visit of this semester in March. During the event, three female employees from KMD’s Women in IT-campaign shared their best experiences as a professional in the IT-industry.

First on the agenda, was a welcome by Anne Aaby Hansen, Career Development Coordinator at ReDI School Copenhagen.

“It was interesting to hear from the three power women from KMD, especially seeing the work that they do and the diversity of KMD that they symbolize. We have had a ton of positive feedback from the students, and they found it very inspiring to learn from their experiences and to meet such a great company as KMD,” Anne Aaby Hansen told after the event.

Second on the agenda was a short introduction to KMD by Ditte Clausen, Public Affairs & Sustainability Officer at KMD, followed by the first presenter, Na’Tosha Bard, Vice President and Head of Research & Development at KMD. The next presenter was Elisa Kalia, Agile Product Owner at KMD. The final presenter was the new super talent in KMD, Ida Bjerg Fält-Hansen, SAP Delivery Manager.

“To me, it was really inspiring to meet so many motivated and curious women and they asked some really good questions. I think they are really brave, and what ReDI School is doing is so cool,” Ida Bjerg Fält-Hansen expressed after the event.

Nikolina, one of the participating students, was very delighted and her hope was revived from the event.

“After this afternoon’s company visit, I just wanted to add a thanks to the lovely women from KMD for participating in this event. It means a lot to me to meet the women from KMD since I’m just building my network in Denmark and not knowing anyone previously. So once again - Thank you,” was the feedback from Nikolina.

As a final note, Anne Aaby Hansen wrapped up the event and made sure no questions were left without an answer.

“The event might not seem like a big, life-changing thing, but for many of our students it really makes a lasting impression and, in many ways, makes them more confident that they can pursue their dreams here in Denmark,” Anne Aaby Hansen concluded.
