KMD and GF Forsikring in new IT cooperation
OUTSOURCING: GF Forsikring has taken a strategic decision to concentrate its internal resources on IT development, while instead outsourcing part of its IT operations. After a tendering round, GF Forsikring has picked the IT Group KMD as its new partner.
For the next five years, KMD will handle the IT operations of GF Forsikring, which is among the largest customer-owned insurance companies in Denmark. Under this agreement GF Forsikring's IT systems and data will be transferred to KMD's cloud-based data centers. The company's IT operations are being outsourced because GF Forsikring wishes to concentrate its internal resources on IT development.
The decision to outsource IT operations is a consequence of an organizational change whereby IT and Business Development have been combined into one department.
"We wish to be even closer to the customer and to strengthen the customer experience, especially in the digital area. This means, on the other hand, that we have outsourced our IT operations," says Tine Kirk, EVP of Business Development and IT at GF Forsikring.
"In facility terms, data centers are developing rapidly and in the longer term it can be difficult to keep up to speed in this field as an independent, smaller operator. We therefore look forward to the cooperation with KMD, which we selected after a tendering round. KMD can shoulder our entire technical set-up and give us access to a far wider portfolio of specialists than is the case today," Tine Kirk adds.
KMD is very pleased with the new agreement, which is in line with the IT Group's growth ambitions within the financial sector.
