Green transportation is a small but important step in the sustainable development

Climate changes, lifestyle diseases, and insufficient infrastructure, as cities are becoming more crowded and life outside the cities are becoming more distanced, are major political challenges. However, small initiatives of everyday life can make a considerable overall impact.

KMD partners with Two Wheel Company as well as other initiatives which are benefitting society, citizens, and nature. Through the partnership with Two Wheel Company, employees are offered favorable deals on e-bikes, bicycle equipment, and service agreements (see the updated deals here).

Hanne Reimer Mikkelsen, Product Owner at KMD, invested in a so-called ’45 e-bike’ which has a speed range up to 45 km/h for her 20 km commute to work. She did this based on the partnership with Two Wheel Company, and now, her habits of commuting have changed.

“There's no doubt that the guidance from Two Wheel Company certainly pushed me in the right direction. They understood my needs, wants, and budget. They are very professional, and they also provide a super service afterwards," says Hanne Reimer Mikkelsen.

By exchanging the time spend in sedentary transport with physically demanding modes of transport, time utilization of everyday life can be made more efficiently. In addition, it has also been proven that both the ability to focus, mood, and energy level are increased when exercising. This applies in all aspects of life and can lead to more time and energy for socializing with family, friends, or for hobbies. Hanne Reimer Mikkelsen also sees several advantages in investing time and money in her well-being:

"It is definitely worth the money and time to invest in an e-bike. I have no regrets about it, not for a single moment. I can't stress this enough. It's an investment in myself, my health, my wellbeing, and against stress. The joy and peace you create in your mind by taking the e-bike rather than the car, more than outweighs the extra time might spend on the e-bike. I track the ride on my sports watch, and it gives a lot of exercise. All you have to do is just to go for it!" says Hanne Reimer Mikkelsen.

As an IT company, KMD is not a huge polluter, but there are still areas where efforts can be made to reduce the carbon footprint. One of the areas is transport. Although a bicycle might seem like an indifferent tool when looking at society's major problems, we shouldn’t let us fool by the overall results of the positive effects that a bike ride can have rather than a car ride. Hanne Reimer Mikkelsen, who swapped her 'car number two' for the 45 e-bike, agrees on this:

"I have saved money by swapping a car for an e-bike. After all, the car is significantly more expensive and also in fuel costs. Now, I must think very carefully to find an excuse to use the car. I've been so fond of the e-bike. After I rode it the first day, I've just been so happy when riding it. I never have any regrets – not for a single moment,” concludes Hanne Reimer Mikkelsen.
